Abstract

Taking as a central object the poems compiled in Paula Glenadel’s (2008)GLENADEL, Paula (2008). A fábrica do feminino. Rio de Janeiro: 7Letras. A fábrica do feminino, and Elvira Vigna’s (2016)VIGNA, Elvira (2016). Como se estivéssemos em palimpsesto de putas. São Paulo: Companhia das Letras. novel Como se estivéssemos em palimpsesto de putas, but also resorting to other works by the authors, this paper questions what these writings hold as possibilities for the birth of the new. The paper takes in account Walter Benjamin’s concept of Jetztzeit with the aim of researching the relationship between androgyny and natality as a rupture with organic life (Zoe), and the the authors’ bet on symbolic life (Bios) as a possibility of politics. Androgyny — the indifference between male and feminine, but also between the Other and the Self — is, we seek to argue, the bet that both literatures make as an alternative to the instrumentality of contemporary politics.
