Democratic rule of law, evaluation policies, and public Education in Brazil

Abstract

This work aims to analyze the educational evaluation policies in Brazil, considering their effects on the conditions of accomplishment of a democratic public school Education. It is a theoretical and bibliographical research that discusses, first, the provisions of the Federal Constitution of 1988 that make possible to define conceptually and legally the Democratic State of Law, analyzing its implications with the question of democratic public Education. Then, the policies of educational evaluation practiced in the country are presented, considering their general characteristics and main incidences on the field of school Education. Finally, the possibilities of democratization and achievement of an effective quality of school Education in Brazil are problematized.
