Evangelical parodies: on the moral reclassification of humor in Pentecostalism

Abstract: The aim of the paper is to analyze the classifying potentialities of humor developed by pentecostal cultural entrepreneurs in Argentina. In order to do this, it reconstructs the point of view of contents producers, based on three dimensions: (a) the supports in which the humorous register is expressed; (b) the specific circumstances that typify and (c) the moral aspects introduced. The article explores the intergenerational dialogue that crosses religious humor. The research is based on a qualitative approach strategy that includes in-depth interviews, a corpus of written (books and comics) and audio-visual (songs, videos, interviews, memes) documents and virtual ethnography in social networks.
