Manuscripts must be sent only in digital format through the online platform available at http://seer.ufrgs.br/Movimento/user. Submission must be made by one of the authors and includes five steps:
5.1 Step 1: Indicate section and language, accept conditions, sign copyright statement
The submission process will start by indicating and registering the section (“Original articles” or “Essays” for continuous and open flow) and language of the manuscript (Portuguese, English and Spanish).
Then, the author registering the submission on behalf of all co-authors (if applicable) must state the manuscript’s compliance with the items below.
1. The manuscript fits the scope of Movimento (ESEFID/UFRGS), that is, it clearly addresses topics related to the field of Physical Education at its interface with Human and Social Sciences, more specifically in its pedagogical, historical, political, and cultural aspects. The journal receives, reviews, and publishes manuscripts debating the phenomena and topics investigated, having the Human and Social Sciences as their theoretical, methodological, analytical, and interpretative foundations.
2. This manuscript meets the four conditions for review detailed in Section 2 of the guidelines: 1. A maximum of two manuscripts by the same author or co-authors per year; 2. up to 2 simultaneous manuscripts by the same author/co-author; 3. no manuscripts on instrument validation; and 4. No manuscripts submitted in question-and-answer format from interviews with prominent personalities in the area.
3. All authors involved have signed the Authors’ statements and details form, which includes formal agreements, details, rights and responsibilities related to the manuscript’s production and publication.
4. The structure and format of the manuscript being submitted were based on the TEMPLATE and consider the mandatory elements described in the rules for organizing the manuscript, reference presentation, and inclusion of illustrations, tables, and charts (if applicable).
5. The authors have suppressed all the information that might lead to their identification from the manuscript, which is crucial to preserve their anonymity and ensure the blind review procedure. This has been done both for “the text” and “file properties”.
6. Authors are aware that once all of the items above are met, the manuscript will qualify for stage 2 (peer review – scientific merit). Then they will be asked for proof of payment of the submission fee. This fee refers exclusively to the evaluation process, and the amount paid will not be refunded regardless of the final result.
After meeting these requirements on behalf of all co-authors (if applicable), the author making the registration must record/reaffirm her or his agreement in a copyright statement, considering the adoption of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
Finally, the author making the submission has access to the privacy policy and may, if necessary, submit comments to the editor who will head/conduct the review process.
5.2 Step 2: Uploading the manuscript
Step 2 of the submission procedure involves uploading the file that will be peer-reviewed (which meets the set of requirements described in the previous sections of these guidelines and does not contain elements identifying the authors).
5.3 Step 3: Including Metadata
In Step 3 of the submission procedure, the author making the registration must record a set of metadata identifying the authors and the manuscript.
The first field to be selected is FORM LANGUAGE. Since the information in the article (title, abstract and key words) must be registered in three languages, the author recording the data must do the procedure three times, according to the tutorial available here.
Then, details of all authors must be registered, considering the following guidelines:
- Do not fill in the “Title” field (leave it blank).
- “First Name”, “Middle Name” and “Last Name” must be written in full, with only their initials capitalized.
- In “E-mail,” enter a functioning email address and check all characters.
- In “ORCID iD,” write the address provided by the ORCID platform at: https://orcid.org/my-orcid. This field must be filled in. Therefore, all authors who will be included must register on that platform and obtain their IDs (links) to fill in the field.
- The “Institution/Affiliation” field must be completed in the following order: Name of the University, Name of the institution’s unit/department, City, State. [Example: Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). School of Physical Education, Physiotherapy and Dance (ESEFID), Porto Alegre, RS]. Do not use periods after State or the country. This field MUST be completed.
- Select and register the author’s “Country”. This field MUST be completed.
- Fill in the “Bio” field with data on the author’s academic and professional history.
The items above must be considered for all authors (especially those indicated as mandatory). To add a new author, click on the ADD AUTHOR button.
Once all authors are registered, the metadata of the work being submitted must be entered:
- Work title in UPPER CASE LETTERS
- Information summary up to 150 words
- Up to 4 key words identifying the subject of the article, separated by periods. Use of Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) is recommended. Available at: http://decs.bvs.br/
- Support data on “Contributors and Development Agencies,” that is, people or organizations that contributed to the content or provided financial support for the work.
5.4 Step 4: Uploading Supplementary Documents
To enter supplementary documents, the author making the registration must upload the following files:
- AUTHOR’S STATEMENTS AND DETAILS fully completed and signed by all the authors. Click here to download the document to be completed and signed.
- If the manuscript includes illustrations (photographs, image graphs, diagrams or other illustrations), in addition to being in the text file (entered in Step 2), they must be uploaded individually as supplementary documents (in this Step 4) in open format, i.e. the original file, on the system on which it was created rather than in closed image format, to allow for font adjustments.
5.5 Step 5: Confirmation
In this step, the system presents a list of the files uploaded in previous steps for checking. If the information is correct, the author making the submission must click on COMPLETE SUBMISSION. Confirmation emails will be sent to the author and the Editorial Board of Movimento informing of the new submission.
After this operation has been completed, the authors can follow the submission status by accessing the system as “Author”.
